FBW196 - Thinking of You Cards for Butterfly Kisses Care Baskets

Welcome to this wonderful Wednesday at Flutter By Wednesdays!! We have a challenge for you that will not only help with your card making but give you an opportunity to help others! That sounds like a great idea, doesn't it?

Our challenge this week is to make a get well/thinking of you/keep fighting kind of card for children battling life-threatening illnesses. If you would like to join us this week at FBW, you can upload your card HERE.

Here is a little about the project through Butterfly Kisses Care Baskets:

It is amazing to see the wonderful things that kids and teenagers are doing now! Two wonderful teenagers from Charlotte, NC have started this fantastic non-profit called Butterfly Kisses Care Baskets.

Butterfly Kisses is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with the goal of bringing care baskets to children who are battling for their lives against childhood cancer or other serious illnesses. We realize that when a child is diagnosed with a terminal illness, it not only affects the child but the parents, siblings, and the rest of their family. For this reason, we strive to bring a “butterfly kiss” not only to the child who is ill, but to the siblings as well. Our hope is that we will provide a smile among the shattered world of life-threatening illness, and that we will rally a community to make a difference through the smallest acts of kindness.

What does Butterfly Kisses do for these children? Butterfly Kisses uses a personalized, and intimate approach towards the children in creating beautiful photo collages of the children. Using photos of the child throughout their life and of course, their family, Butterfly Kisses creates a cherished memory for the family. In many instances, these families are fighting for time against the disease. In addition, we send each child and their siblings a personalized, small care box filled with small goodies for them to enjoy, along with a card made by volunteers! And for local children, we provide special care baskets with toys, gifts, and opportunities for memory-making family experiences.

If you would like to make a card for one of the children receiving a Butterfly Kisses care basket, there are some simple rules to follow:
1. Don’t apologize for their illness, offer words that are encouraging and hopeful (ie: “Dear brave friend” or simply “Dear Friend”)
2. Make the cards cheery and happy…remember who they are going to!
3. Anyone can make cards from toddlers to adults.

If you would like to donate a card or cards, please mail them to the following address:

Butterfly Kisses Care Baskets
PO Box 49111
Charlotte, NC 28277

Please consider sending some cards to these wonderful young ladies and their very worthwhile endeavor! You can read complete instructions for the cards HERE.

PTT51 Happy Birthday from Stampendous!

Welcome to the party!! This is our 51st challenge at Party Time Tuesdays, and we are celebrating birthdays this week! So, bring out your birthday projects and cards and join us this week HERE!

We have a wonderful sponsor this week -- Stampendous! They furnished us with a clear set of stamps, and I was able to get back into my vintage groove a bit this week! The set is aptly called Time Flies, and we were also given color fragments (mine in sage). It was fun to figure out a way to showcase them.

I built my card around the sage colored fragments, and I used it as sort of a ribbon of fragments. To adhere them, I simply ran a line of Crystal Effects from Stampin' Up across the paper. I poured it on and shook off the excess. Voila!

Thanks for stopping by today...I hope you will join the party this week!

Card Details:
Stamps: Time Flies Perfectly Clear set from Stampendous
Paper: Webster's Pages designer paper; Early Espresso and Naturals Cream from Stampin' Up
Ink: Early Espresso and Sage by Archival Ink
Accessories: Stampendous Frantage sage color fragments; Martha Stewart border punch; Crystal Effects by SU

I have to apologize a bit about my card! It is a true comedy of errors! I have a hurt leg that I have to stay off of, so I am stuck in either the bed or on the couch. I hobbled up late to make my card into the craft room where I knew I could sit down and do it. Well, I finished. And, I realized that my camera is in the car, in the rain, and the cold. So, I take out my phone. Well, for whatever crazy reason, there are these gray lines throughout the picture when I take it in the usual place. My craft room is a mess...everywhere. I take the picture on my nearest surface...my Scor-Pal! YIKES...then, I email it to myself. I'm so hi-tech! Not my best picture effort, but I love the card!

Thanks for stopping by today!

I have always been a crafter. I enjoy making fun, silly, sassy handmade cards, scrapbook pages, and fun art projects for my friends and family to give as gifts. Creative Clear Stamps started as a solution to my own stamping needs. I had searched the web looking for fun themed stamp sets, but few portrayed my personality, sense of humor, and special interests. In 2004 I went back to school, and earned a degree in Graphic Design and Desktop Publishing (one of the best things I have ever done for myself ). I worked as a freelance graphic designer under the name Creative Vision for a few years before I decided to start my own line of clear stamps. In early 2008, after many hours behind the computer and away from my craft room, the very first stamp sets were born.

I am very excited to finally be able to share my creative vision with you! Inside my store you will find unique themed stamp sets not found anywhere else. My creative stamps are sure to inspire your scrap booking and card making creativity. All of the stamps are made in the USA from a premium photopolymer, which is similar to acrylic only higher in quality and will make a wonderful addition to your current rubber stamping supplies.

One winner will receive a Creative Vision Clear Stamp set!

Thanks so much to our fabulous sponsors for letting the Party Planners showcase your products!

I have used the above sketch from the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #134 for my card today!
********************

On a personal note -- I have to apologize and explain my absence of late. In the immediate few days, I've been fighting an awful cold, and it seems to cloud everything. Being supermom is the only thing I've been able to somewhat maintain! LOL! This past summer and now early fall, I have been heavily involved with my daughter's school on their PTO Board. While I absolutely love volunteering, it has consumed a lot of my time and energy. In addition, I'm a Girl Scout leader to a troop of 16 girls, and of course, that is ramping up as well! So, please bear with me as I navigate this new normal. I feel busier now than I did when I was working full time!! Who would have thought...

PTT23 A Double Header for you Today!!

I have a double header for you today at Party Time Tuesdays! We have some amazing sponsors this month at Party Time Tuesdays, and they are all listed below. However, I'm a bit partial to Paper Pretties, as you can imagine! The above card features a sepia card topper from Charlie's Ark, which is connected to Flower Soft. They are absolutely gorgeous images, and I used a tutorial from Flower Soft to just add watercolor pops of color to the image. The tutorial can be found HERE. The paper used in the above card is from one of our sponsors this month...The Robin's Nest. They totally spoiled us with amazing double-sided paper and great embellishments!

In the above card, I used my Dienamics dies from MFT, and I just love them!! I used a bit of Very Vanilla craft ink to whiten up the edges. I still can't find my Whisper White craft ink...it must be lost somewhere with all of my socks!! I used pastels from Stampin' Up to give a little color to my background with Tommy flying his kite. The sentiment is from Woodware USA.

If you would like to join in the party this week at Party Time Tuesdays, you can visit HERE for more details and to upload your card!

Woodware USA Challenge #33 - Patriotic Colors and/or Theme

This week we have a choice between a patriotic color combo or a patriotic theme. I chose the color combo, and it so reminds me of summer! I used the fun set from Woodware USA called Sail Away, and my sentiment is from another Woodware USA set -- Ted in the Garden.

I find that I can get just about any sentiment from my Woodware USA sets, and they fit perfectly in a lot of my SU punches and small Nestabilities! Yay for me!

If you would like to join us this week, please visit the Woodware USA blog HERE for more details! Thanks for stopping by today!
