SCH Fabulous Friday - Happy Mother's Day

Mother's Day is right around the corner, and at Sugar Creek Hollow this week we are highlighting Mother's Day! We have a wonderful freebie this week, the rounded Happy Mother's Day sentiment above!! You need to snag it...it's a keeper!! The apron is from Mama's Apron Strings, and it is a wonderful set from Sugar Creek Hollow. I just knew that I had to pair it with pearls and my new Labels Ten from Nestabilities. So fun!! The paper is Sassafras, and the lace is from Hobby Lobby! I colored the apron with my Copic markers...the "white" parts are actually colored with C00 to give just a hint of something more.

My Sugar Creek Hollow team members have some amazing creations for you this week. Check them out!! We also have a new guest designer for May, and her name is Bernadette!

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!! Blessings to you all!

First Communion

This is a First Communion card that I made for a neighbor friend. The image is a wonderful cross with a dove by Sugar Creek Hollow, and the sentiment is one that I picked up from Micheals a few years ago. It always reminds me of one of my favorite hymns that we sing in church..."Lord, make me a channel of your peace..." I popped up the dove and put a bit of Gold Glimmer Shimmerz on his wings.

Aly's Sunday Challenge - ASC16 use an animal in your card (bird)
Just a quick post today! Stay tuned tomorrow for my Fabulous Friday card from Sugar Creek Hollow!

FBW107...Clean and Simple Butterflies

Hello, my butterfly fans!! Today is a departure for me, but it was oh so freeing!! Our challenge for this week's Flutter By Wednesday challenge #107 is to make your card CAS (aka Clean and Simple). I knew that I had to pick a good image to get the effect that I wanted. So, I chose to stamp the same butterfly three times, in three different orientations. I added the sentiment, and voila, LESS IS MORE!! Some people do CAS really well, but I sometimes struggle. It is kind of like not being able to handle silence...I have to fill it somehow! Well, here it is!! Just, don't forget to include either a butterfly, fairy or angel on your card! Link up your creation HERE, so that we can visit!
My team mates have some awesome cards to share with you...why not visit them on my sidebar!!
Card Details:
Stamps: Medium Bold Butterfly by Sweet Stamps; Sincere Salutations by SU
Paper: Basic Black and Real Red by SU
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black; SU Real Red
Accessories: Copic markers (R21, R24, R27)

FBW106 Mercy Me...It's a Sketch!!

Happy Day today!! Can you believe that we are up to the 106th challenge of Flutter By Wednesday? It blows my mind, and I can't believe how April is nearing to a close already! Tomorrow, my hubby and I are going to see Bon Jovi in concert. I've been a fan from the beginning, but this will be my first time to see them!! I can hardly wait! Sorry, I digress...hehehe!

This week we have a sketch from the uber-talented Mercy Kerin!! I love her sketches, and I play along with her Tuesday sketches whenever I can! Lately, we have been spending so much time on landscaping that I haven't had a lot of craft time! Just remember to include a butterfly, fairy or angel on your card. I used the wonderful Sweet Pea stamp and my Green at Heart paper from Basic Grey that arrived in the mail this week. I love the details...the coloring can seem a bit daunting, but I work in stages. I color the skin, walk away, color the hair, walk away, then, I come back and color the rest of her body, and, you guessed it, I walk away. It seems like it takes me all day to color it, but I really liked the result. The picture doesn't do it justice and it doesn't pick up the sparkle from the Spica pens, but it will do!

Meredith also wanted to play this week...her page is loosely based on the sketch. Her coloring and cutting skills get better every day. She just loves using my "special markers." My husband hopes she develops as much of an interest in golf so they can do stuff together!! I told him to pull up a chair to the craft table, but I think he's too intimidated!

Sorry, I'm a little chatty today! I hope you are all well and that you will join us this week. All you need do is link up your creation HERE. Don't forget to check out the amazing talent from my fellow design team members on the left sidebar! Ciao!!

It's Fabulous Friday from Sugar Creek Hollow. You won't want to miss the precious freebie on the site today!! It's a cute one...I can't wait to play with it! My card today is using some wonderful paper from Cosmo Cricket that I picked up, and it really reminds me of the aged look of the door! I distressed the edges of the image, and I colored with Copic markers, and, gasp, I hand cut the image out!! You can't get a curve like that with anything else!! I also put this verse from Sugar Creek Hollow on the inside of the card:

Ask and it will be given to you;
Seek and you will find it;
Knock and the door will be opened for you.

Matthew 7:7

I don't normally dot he inside of the card, but this one needed to be included as it wouldn't fit on the outside of the card!

I hope you can take the time to visit my Sugar Creek Hollow team mates today...they put the FABULOUS in Fabulous Fridays!

Creative Belli Challenge Guest Designer

I was so honored to be asked to be a guest designer for the Creative Belli Blog's Belli Challenge. I've been playing with these challenges for a while, and I've really enjoyed them. They have helped me dig out long forgotten supplies and give them new life. There is so much talent represented there, and I am completely honored to have been chosen as their guest designer for this challenge. Challenge #88 asks for us to use spray on our creations, and I chose to use my only spray...Smooch Spritz in Cherry Red. As usual, I bought something, and I hadn't used it. Well, this allowed me to, and I was excited to use it on some awesome chipboard hearts that were also collecting dust in a drawer.

This week's sponsor is The Stamping Boutique, and I was fortunate to be given this wonderful image from them called--First Dance, I believe. It was just so cute, I couldn't resist!! I colored the image with Copic markers, and I also used the lovely border punch from Stampin' Up that coordinates with a corner punch to make a wonderful edge around the whole piece!
It's not too late to join this week's Creative Belli Challenge #88, so give it a try...you'll be addicted very soon!

FBW104 - The Butterfly that Sparkles...

When I heard that the images that we were using this week were from Stef aka Glitterbabe, well, I knew my card had to be bold, bright, and of course, SPARKLY!! Here it is in all of its glory! She has a wonderful etsy shop--Glitterbabe Greetings--and one lucky participant will win 2 images from her shop!! All you need to do is create a new card using a butterfly, fairy, or angel and link it up HERE for your chance to win!! Doesn't get any easier than that, does it?
It's been a little quiet here at Southern Yankee Crafter...I just needed a breather! There are some major landscaping needs outside, so we (my hubby, daughter, and I) have been spending a lot of time outside since last Thursday. And, of course, the pollen is taking its toll on me. Needless to say, my crafting has taken a little bit of a back seat. However, I'm back in the groove, and I'll be back with posts this week and back to commenting! I've been itching to use some new stamps!!
I'd love for you to check out the other Flutter By Wednesday team members' blogs to see their awesome butterfly creations!

Paper: Bermuda Bay by SU; DSP by American Crafts
