PTT71

We are rolling out the royal treatment this week, in honor of Queen Elizabeth's Diamond Jubilee!  When I had to request which Tiddly Inks image I would work with, this little cutie just jumped right off the screen and yelled, "hey, pick me!"  Isn't she just adorable?  Her name is Wryn, and that little frog even has personality!  So, bring out the gold and the sparkle and the jewels and play along with us this week at Party Time Tuesdays!  You can find all of the information HERE for this week's challenge.

PTT70 - Anything Goes

I chuckled a little when I saw this little cutie...I thought the title should be "mum's the word" because of her lack of a mouth!  Too funny...I know, I have a weird sense of humor!

We have our popular Anything Goes challenge this week at Party Time Tuesdays!  In addition, I've used the sketch from this week's Sketch Saturday - #209...it was fun to add some texture and shape to this card!

If you would like to join us this week at the party, you can visit HERE for more details!  Thanks for stopping by today!

Happy Graduation Day at Paper Pretties

It's that time of year again...so many fresh young faces graduating!  Whether it be from preschool, kindergarten or college, it is all excitement.  Today, we have this little cutie from Fawn to debut today.  I've paired her with an older sentiment from Seuss Truths, and it says, "Today is your day--your mountain is waiting."  I love it!!  When you graduate, you feel like you are faced with a mountain, but you are so ready to climb it!  What feelings at that time!

If you would like to join us and make your graduation card, please visit HERE for samples and more details!

Paper Pretties Monday Challenge - Use Ribbon

Just another manic Monday!  Yes, it is, but I'm alive, and that is a good thing!  Just kidding!  Well, I am alive, but you know!  Today, we have a challenge to use ribbon...notice that I don't have any ribbon on it?  Well, I was making 6 different cards yesterday trying to get ahead on some challenges, and I just messed a whole bunch of stuff up!  It was crazy!  I will just pretend that the strip of red paper is just paper ribbon!!  See, I can make it work!

PTT66 Ribbons Galore

We are celebrating your special day at Party Time Tuesdays...so sorry for the delay in my post!  I went back in late last night to check on it, and I had the wrong date in my post ahead option.  YIKES...where is my brain lately!  I turn 40 in a week and a half, and I believe that early onset has kicked in (hehehe).

Our challenge this week is to use two ribbons on our cards, and we have some fabulous sponsors including:  Digi Stamp Characters; Stitchy Bear; and Sassy Studio Designs.  There are lots of fabulous prizes to be had!

I went fairly simple with my design today, and the ribbons are layered on top of one another (Real Red satin and Night of Navy grosgrain).  The image is colored with Copic markers, and I use both Nestabilities and SU punches to accent the card.  The sentiment is from Woodware USA.

If you would like to join us this week, you can visit HERE for more information.  Thanks for stopping by today!

FBW200 Thanks for the memories!

Well, the day is here!  On the one hand, we have the 200TH CHALLENGE OF FLUTTERBY WEDNESDAY (yippee!), but on the other hand, we have the last challenge of Flutterby Wednesday (boo hoo).  I tried to get a little sentimental with my card...my heart was in the right place.  I found this wonderful paper that said things like, "joy, wonderful, happiness, memories, sparkle" and that is what I associate with Flutterby Wednesday.  However, I got a little sad and lost my mojo in the middle of the card, so you'll have to forgive me!

Now, I'm going to get a little sentimental.  I really believe that I have been in full denial that FBW is going to end, and that is why I got a little befuddled making this card.  I really wanted to go out with a bang and give you the best card that I've ever made, but that didn't happen.  However, over the course of almost 150 challenges with FBW, I've given you all a body of work that has slowly and steadily improved, had some duffers, and even had moments of brilliance.  That is growth, and I believe that I have grown in this challenge.  So, the words "traditions, the good life, family, and I love you" are also befitting of my experience here.  We have been a little family, and above all, we've had smiles.  And, I hope we have brought some smiles to your face, too.

So, with our last challenge, we have a fun sketch from Jen Shults for you, and we would love to have you play along with us HERE

Thanks for the memories!

Card Details:
Stamps:  sentiment by SU
Paper:  Target DSP (who knew?); Lovely Lilac and Concord Crush by SU
Ink:  Concord Crush by SU
Accessories:  SU punches; SU ribbon; Sizzix BIGZ die; Cuttlebug embossing folder

FBW199 Case-ing and Saying Goodbye

It's a cliche--"all good things must come to an end." A cliche, but it doesn't make it any less real! Today is the 199th challenge at Flutter By Wednesday, and next week, it will turn 200. Then, Danni is going to turn off the lights for the FBW challenge. What an amazing run it has had, and I'm so grateful to have been a part of it for so long. Danni gave me my first shot on a design team, and it has meant the world to me. She is an awesome team leader and an awesome person. I'm still in a bit of denial, and I'm sure that Wednesdays will feel funny without posting a Flutterby card, but we understand that it is time to move on! We hope that you will play along with us this week and next to go out with a bang. It's always nice to go out on top!

Our challenge this week is to case Danni's first challenge card, and you can find it HERE, along with more details about the end of an era! We hope to see you!

FBW196 - Thinking of You Cards for Butterfly Kisses Care Baskets

Welcome to this wonderful Wednesday at Flutter By Wednesdays!! We have a challenge for you that will not only help with your card making but give you an opportunity to help others! That sounds like a great idea, doesn't it?

Our challenge this week is to make a get well/thinking of you/keep fighting kind of card for children battling life-threatening illnesses. If you would like to join us this week at FBW, you can upload your card HERE.

Here is a little about the project through Butterfly Kisses Care Baskets:

It is amazing to see the wonderful things that kids and teenagers are doing now! Two wonderful teenagers from Charlotte, NC have started this fantastic non-profit called Butterfly Kisses Care Baskets.

Butterfly Kisses is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with the goal of bringing care baskets to children who are battling for their lives against childhood cancer or other serious illnesses. We realize that when a child is diagnosed with a terminal illness, it not only affects the child but the parents, siblings, and the rest of their family. For this reason, we strive to bring a “butterfly kiss” not only to the child who is ill, but to the siblings as well. Our hope is that we will provide a smile among the shattered world of life-threatening illness, and that we will rally a community to make a difference through the smallest acts of kindness.

What does Butterfly Kisses do for these children? Butterfly Kisses uses a personalized, and intimate approach towards the children in creating beautiful photo collages of the children. Using photos of the child throughout their life and of course, their family, Butterfly Kisses creates a cherished memory for the family. In many instances, these families are fighting for time against the disease. In addition, we send each child and their siblings a personalized, small care box filled with small goodies for them to enjoy, along with a card made by volunteers! And for local children, we provide special care baskets with toys, gifts, and opportunities for memory-making family experiences.

If you would like to make a card for one of the children receiving a Butterfly Kisses care basket, there are some simple rules to follow:
1. Don’t apologize for their illness, offer words that are encouraging and hopeful (ie: “Dear brave friend” or simply “Dear Friend”)
2. Make the cards cheery and happy…remember who they are going to!
3. Anyone can make cards from toddlers to adults.

If you would like to donate a card or cards, please mail them to the following address:

Butterfly Kisses Care Baskets
PO Box 49111
Charlotte, NC 28277

Please consider sending some cards to these wonderful young ladies and their very worthwhile endeavor! You can read complete instructions for the cards HERE.
