Flowers, Flowers, Everywhere - SCH Sensational Saturday

Happy Saturday!! Did everyone make it through this past week? Wow, what a wild week both here and around the world. I have been riveted by the news of the earthquake and subsequent Tsunami in Japan. Life can change in an instant. On that note, I'll lighten things up just a bit!

Our challenge this week at Sugar Creek Hollow is to make your own flowers! I made this lovely flower as part of a class, and it involved using double sided paper, several flower punches, water to spritz and crinkling the paper! Sounds like a lot of steps, but it was fun, and I really liked the result so I made it into a card! The wonderful sentiment is from Sugar Creek Hollow, and it is a quote from Henry David Thoreau. FBW145 On a Clear Day...

WOW...isn't that a spectacular photo! It makes me long for spring. The trees are blooming and the Daffodils are up here, but there is still that brisk chill in the air! This photo is our inspiration for this week's Flutter By Wednesday challenge. I love inspiration pieces because you can go so many different places with it. I was explaining to my 6 year old about the fact that my card doesn't have to be an exact replica of the photo...you just take inspiration from it! That is a rather abstract concept for a 6 year old, but I think she got it (mostly).

Well, I was struck by the daisies, so I went searching for some paper that had daisies in it. Lo and behold, I remembered that one of my favorite Basic Grey papers -- Euphoria -- had daisies in it. It's all about the words today! Our challenge this week at Woodware USA is to use a sentiment as your focus, and that is what I have done for you. If you would like to play along with us this week, please find more details HERE.

I was able to use my new set of Nestabilities that I finally purchased after hemming and hawing about it. And, I also got my hot little hands on the new Copic Sketch colors. Did I use them yet, well, no, but that isn't the point!

I have used Kraft and Purely Pomegranate paper on my card today. The stamp set is Mixed Greetings by Woodware USA, and it is fast becoming one of my favorites! The designer paper is Rose Red, and the rickrack is from May Arts. I finished off the card with some flowers and a Spica glitter pen.

A Day for Me with some Challenges

I've noticed lately that most of my posts (if not all of late) are for my design team commitments, so I decided to do some challenges of my own today! And, I was able to combine a few! It's been raining here all weekend so what better to do than create. Of course, my husband is antsy because he can't get outside. I keep telling him that he is welcome to make cards with me, but that doesn't seem to interest him! Ah, men or is that Amen?!

I also have a new stamp set to play with from the awesome store -- StampingScrapping.com. Woodware USA stamps are now being carried in her store, and we have the privilege of being able to create with Cindy's wonderful photo polymer stamps made to complement many Nestabilities. Check it out HERE!

Lovely Ladybug - Sensational SCH Saturday

Isn't she a lovely little ladybug? She fit so perfectly in this Nestability shape that I kept this card pretty simple with this week's sketch for Sugar Creek Hollow. I embossed the top and bottom edges, and I used some ribbon scraps to give some texture. Isn't the large flower just delish? I think so, and I had to use it!

The cardstock is both Wild Wasabi and Real Red, and the designer paper is from Prima, a new 6x6 pack that I acquired. I colored my little ladybug friend with Copic markers, and I sponged the edges to give a type of barrier between the cut out shape and pale patterned paper that I used.

As is always my struggle, I tried to add more embellishments, and I just couldn't do it! It isn't me unless I know it feels right. That is why I always envy people who can pile on embellishments and make them look like masterpieces!

FBW144 - Robyn's Fetish Open Challenge

I'm fluttering by today with a lovely image given to our FBW design team from Robyn's Fetish! It is called Primitive Pitcher, but with all that I have going on in this card, it is far from primitive!! The image isn't a fairy, butterfly, or angel, but I added my butterflies to fit the bill. Besides, don't butterflies love flowers? I think so! If you would like to play along this week, the challenge is open...just don't forget the angel, butterfly or fairy on your creation. I colored the image with Copic markers, and I used the warm grays, along with V00, V05, V06, Y04 and G21 to round out the rest of the image. I then accented with Spica glitter pens, and I used Nestabilities to cut the image and the SU Butterfly Wings Embosslit to make the textured butterflies. The ribbon is Rich Razzleberry, and I used flowers and the pin to hold all of the loops together! The paper is Green at Heart by Basic Grey, and my cardstock is Wild Wasabi and Rich Razzleberry by Stampin' Up.

Just a little note from a Bugling Bear...wouldn't we all love to see and hear that? I searched and searched my craft room for paper with notes on it. High and low, I tell you! Then, it dawned on me...I have the SU background stamp, Musical Score. Duh! All the time I wasted, and I can just create the paper myself! I've been a little bit of the Capella paper lately from Basic Grey. I think sometimes certain papers lend themselves to different times of the year. I never have to shop again technically with all the ribbon, paper, gadgets and embellishments I have...YIKES!!
