Woodware USA - Anything But a Card!!

Welcome to another week at Southern Yankee Crafter! Boy, last week was busy, both in real life and blog land!! However, I came out unscathed, so at least it was productive!! I have a project for you today that is anything but a card--our challenge this week at Woodware USA! We have over 125 participants last week...can you believe that one? Let's see if we can top that this week! If you would like to see the DT samples and get more information, visit HERE for details!

Why did I wait so long to try to make one of these awesome flowers? It is so fun, and they look very impressive. One of the things that I tweaked from the instructions I followed--I used a large 3D Zot adhesive. It gave a little more stability!

The front of the Target mailbox, all decked out with a luscious bow, courtesy of the Bow Easy! How could I survive without it? If you don't have one, what are you waiting for? It's AWESOME!

The overall project! I used the wonderful Woodware USA set -- Lots of Hearts -- to add to my project. The designer paper has a bit of a sheen to it. I covered the mailbox flag with Melon Mambo that was run through the Swiss Dot folder in my Cuttlebug.

We'd love to have you play along this week with us! Thanks for stopping by!

Sugar Creek Hollow Sensational Saturday - Feature Digi

This week we at Sugar Creek Hollow are featuring one digital image -- this wonderful birdhouse! Today, I have distressed the image and used Copic markers to color it. In addition, I've used a Nestie heart for the background and used up a ton of small ribbon scraps! I always hate to throw anything away, so this was the perfect opportunity to use up even my smallest scraps! It gave it some nice texture. In order for the Nestability heart to show up, I used my white gel pen to add some stitching!

We hope that you will join us this week for our challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow which is to make a Vintage Valentine. You can find details, see the other cards from the design team, and upload your creation HERE. Have a blessed weekend! I'm also entering this card in the following challenge:

Happiness Is...a Butterfly!

You know by now how much I love butterflies, but I really love this image from The Angel Company! The set is called Happiness Is. I adore the way it is drawn, and the little girl just seems so free and unfettered, basking in happiness. I can almost feel the sun and the warm breeze, and spring really is almost within our grasp. Well, almost is the operative word, but a girl can dream!

I have made this card today for a design team call at the Digi Design House. If you would like the details, please visit this LINK for more information. Digi Design House is and extension of their parent company, The Angel Company. They are forging into the digital world, and I am very excited by this. I can't wait to see what they come up in the ever-expanding world of digital stamps! I love their versatility and convenience, whether it be changing the size or orientation or simply being able to store them very efficiently on my computer.
Next week, I'm going to attempt to do one of my first tutorials...it will be aptly called Digis for Dummies. I'm sure it isn't a new concept, but I know that quite a few of my online friends are timid about trying them. So, stay tuned!

I even did the inside of the card, and I love this butterfly paper! It's delish! Thanks for stopping by today...I'll see you tomorrow for a fun announcement!

Card Details:
Stamps: Happiness Is by The Angel Company; sentiment from Jane's Script by Woodware USA

FBW139 White on White

White on White? Wow, now that is a brain teaser for me!! I'm all about the color!! This was a step out of my box kind of challenge, and I like it!! Our challenge this week at Flutter By Wednesday is to have your card be white on white with only color in your image. I knew that for me to pull this off, I would need lots of texture, and boy, is there ever texture on this card! Many, many, many embossing folders later, and this is my creation!

The beautiful image is a digital image from Sugar Creek Hollow, and it is spectacular...I had so much fun coloring it! I wanted to make this a little more subdued because it was a sympathy card, so I stuck with blues and greens. I actually used some Copic markers that had never been opened!

We would love to have you join us this week at the Flutter By Wednesday challenge, so get more details and upload your card HERE.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Paper Pretties Monday Whatnots - Tuesday Edition

It's Tuesday, and it's time for the Tuesday of edition of the Paper Pretties Monday Whatnots! We get to create with some of the most fabulous digital images that are quirky and fun! Today, I got a little bow happy! I had to include bows on both of my projects. The above card uses the image PuRRRty Girl by ARTish for Paper Pretties. I have used all paper and ribbon from Stampin' Up in this card. I have used Razzleberry Lemonade DSP, Pink Pirouette, and Rich Razzleberry cardstock. The ribbon is the same two colors. I colored the image with Copic markers, cut it out, and mounted it on Pink Pirouette paper embossed with a Quickutz folder and cut out with Nestabilities. Add some bling, and we are good to go!

Challenges for this card:
  • Do it With Digis - Challenge #2 - Pink and girly

How do you like my buddy Truffles! I love that he is sitting there eating a very appealing looking box of chocolates! I used Pink Pirouette and Cherry Cobbler as my cardstock colors, and the designer paper is by K&Company from two Valentine's Days ago. The image is cut out using the heart Nestie and mounted on the scalloped heart. The ribbon is pink satin ribbon from Stampin' Up.

I am entering this card in the following challenge:

You can view the rest of my design teams' creations HERE on the Paper Pretties blog!

And, did you know that Paper Pretties has a forum...if you join, there are some free digital images to be had!! Check it out HERE.

Woodware USA Challenge #11 - Anything Goes

2nd post today...scroll down for Paper Pretties Birthday Hop or press HERE.

Happy Monday everyone!! This is the card that I made for my hubby last week...he turned 40! Of course, he believed that his life was over, but he is finding that 40 is really no different than 39!

We had a lovely dinner out with family, and then we headed back to our house for cake! I've been making this decadent dessert for special occasions, and it is called Triple Chocolate Ecstasy.
Well, it is chocolate cake from scratch with a fudge filling and a chocolate whipped frosting. Total yum! Except, this time it went flat! Guess what, my baking powder expired in 2002! Whoops!! Lesson learned. It was my back up baking powder because I had run out of the other one, the fresher one! It still tasted like heaven, and we had a good laugh!
On to the challenge! Our challenge this week over at Woodware USA is anything goes! Don't forget that you get a double entry if you use a Woodware USA stamp on your creation! This is the last week to enter for this month's drawing! All of the details are HERE!

Stamps: Teddy Remembers by Woodware USA

SCH - It's a sensational color combo!

Happy Saturday everyone! This week at Sugar Creek Hollow we have a color combo challenge for you -- black, white, and a splash of another color. I just love red with black and white, so I knew that I had to do this! If you would like to play along with our challenge this week, upload your card and check out the DT samples HERE.

I kept my card simple this week because of the detailing on the digital image! I have few embellishments, but many textures on my card! The background paper is just beautiful, and it comes from a multi-pack of other black and white patterns from My Mind's Eye. The image is called Valentine Vintage Postcard. To add texture, I have used two Cuttlebug embossing folders on the black and white squares, and I used an SU corner punch to make the loops around the red on the image. The final touch was a little bit of white gel pen on the corners for an accent.

We hope that you will play along with us this week! Remember that 100% of the proceeds of Sugar Creek Hollow stamps go to support people in need! Have a blessed day!
